It's Always Been - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Lebanon
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Nathalie Ackawi, Amar A. Zahr, Sandra Dagher, Rayya Badran
Fresh visions, new focuses of attention and refined techniques; evidence of how artistic expression can also be a tool for cultural and social reconstruction, moving on from its role as an escape from the horrors of reality during the dark years of the civil war. In this collection, Imago Mundi catalogues the Art of the new Lebanon: 110 artists, internationally renowned names and young talents in search of worthy recognition. Together, they show a creativity capable of combining East and West, that speaks of cohabitation and dialogue between different cultures, tolerance and the Lebanese people’s characteristic rejection of fanaticism.
It’s Always Been. Contemporary Artists from Lebanon is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
