Contemporary Artists from Jordan
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection

Texts by Luciano Benetton, Khaled Alhamzah, Dina Daboub

Visions from a land in which history and civilization are rooted; the cradle of religions, rituals, cultures, traditions. 142 works of art that compose a large and varied mosaic of experiences, styles, currents, techniques - calligraphy, ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media - with the common ability to offer and represent the aspirations of a country committed to reconciling conflicts, ensuring stability and dialogue, enriching hope with tangible contents. Driven by its young cultural vibrancy, Jordanian art today opens to the world and questions its future in a collection of works that, like every Imago Mundi collection, is a bridge to globality. As Hussein Alazaat, calligrapher, typographer and designer based in 'Ammān observed: “Art belongs to the community. And it is to the community that it must return”.

Jordanian Visions: Contemporary Artists from Jordan is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
