E-mail spam, also known as junk mail, is the practice of sending unsolicited bulk e-mail messages, frequently with commercial content – adverts, scams, pornography – in large quantities to an indiscriminate set of recipients.
Many spam-filtering techniques work by searching for patterns and keywords in the headers or bodies of messages, identifying offenders and deleting. To defeat such filters, the spammer may intentionally misspell commonly filtered words and use increasingly abstract sentences to avoid detection.
This illustration collection reinterprets and visualises the titles of spam e-mails, collected by the Australian author.
