Georgia: Land of Men and Heroes - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Georgia
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Guja Mabellini, Irina Nozadze
The story of Georgia through its visual contemporary culture. 140 works, fruit of the creativity of artists, illustrators, filmmakers and video makers, that weave together research, beauty and hope, but also provocation, irony, love. From landscape to abstract painting, from sculpture to the painting of icons and stone, from illustration to collage, the Imago Mundi collection bears witness and pays tribute to an art that, animated by a strong assertion of its own identity, looks to Europe and other cultures as sources of inspiration, comparison and re-interpretation of styles and ideas.
Georgia: Land of Men and Heroes. Contemporary Artists from Georgia is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
