Texts by Luciano Benetton, Oriano Mabellini, Malalaharisoa Haingo, Patricia Prisca Rananjarison
An extraordinary exhibition that bears witness to the creative vitality of a mysterious and unique island. An overview of the contemporary art scene in Madagascar. Over 140 paintings of unimaginable potential that intertwine the figurative and the abstract, tradition and innovation, depicting ancestral myths and modernity, wise tribal cultures but also European influences. A new and varied figurative narrative that will fascinate and captivate the eyes and the hearts of all art lovers, as do the richness and diversity of the fauna and flora of this jewel of the Indian Ocean.
Madagascar / The Great Island is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12cm format.
www.imagomundiart.com is the web platform of the entire project.
