Mozambique: the universe in miniature - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Mozambique
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Jorge Dias, Henry Mascelloni
Wisdom, magic and colour. Sophisticated forms of figurative creativity contained in 140 paintings from Mozambique, where today a large number of talented painters work and transfer to their art the traditions and contagions that precede the colonial period, tragic memories of the civil war, glories of the revolution. Intellectual excitement, passion and energy are expressed in the small paintings collected by Imago Mundi just as they are in the huge murals on the streets of this country’s largest cities. This collection confirms how great things are created by bringing small things together.
Mozambique: the universe in miniature is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12cm format.
