Texts by Luciano Benetton, Pier Luigi Cecioni, Eugenio Cecioni, Yang Byong Su
A unique collection, which opens an unprecedented window on the contemporary artistic culture of a country apart, itself unique. A real-time vision of the heart of North Korea’s artistic production, reflected in the 210 masterpieces collected by Imago Mundi. Works of extraordinary purity and rich in refined compositional skills: coloured inks, surprising embroideries, cultured perspectives, elegant calligraphy. Cultures and visual techniques suspended in time, which in their profound isolation have resolutely succeeded in preserving and cultivating the universal language of art.
North Korea: A Unique Country is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12cm format.
