Singapore Art. 21st Century and Beyond - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Singapore
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Antonius Kho, Muhammad Salihin Sulaiman
140 works that bear witness to the avant-garde spirit of Singapore but also to the importance it places on culture, a fundamental asset for a metropolis committed to consolidating its role as a global reference point of the 21st century. A collection that is both the mirror and the perfect representation of an extraordinary and cosmopolitan city-lab. Dynamism, vision, innovation and symbolism, but also respect for the traditions and the ancient influences that expertly bring together four cultures: Chinese, Malaysian, Western and, of course, Indian. Different themes and interpretations, a plurality of styles and aesthetic languages, from which a course of action clearly emerges: try new things and try them again. Accept that sometimes things do not go as we envisage. And try again.
Singapore Art. 21st Century and Beyond. Contemporary Artists from Singapore is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
