Vietnam: New Winds - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Vietnam
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Neeraj Ajmani, Dao Mai Trang
A fine blend of ancient traditions and oriental styles and Western techniques. Vietnamese contemporary art visual, as is evident in this Imago Mundi collection, does not neglect the beauty and inspiration of traditional techniques such as lacquer, wood, ceramic, bamboo and handmade paper, evoking the spirituality and values of cultural and popular heritage. But it also offers, through the skilled filter of the artists, a new and modernist perspective, able to encourage renewal, the process of growth. A collection that is also a good opportunity for all of us to update our perception of a country that entered the collective history in the West for a long series of tragic events. A country where new winds now blow.
Vietnam: New Winds. Contemporary Artists from Vietnam is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
