A real-time snapshot of artistic expression in Yemen as a painful civil war and opposing factions threaten not only its integrity but also the extraordinary richness of its cultural heritage. In this confrontational scenario, Imago Mundi’s art from Yemen brings together 170 paintings and composes a vibrant mosaic to give voice to the country. It tells of the social sphere of Yemen, describes what changes and what remains the same in the human, natural and urban landscape. A rich, creative image that combines the new with ancient roots, slowness with a desire for acceleration.

Yemen Fantasticality is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
